Introducing a Revolution in Western Blot Testing
The TrinBlot™ System, from Trinity Biotech, is a fully automated, programmable Western Blot strip processor offering freedom from conventional Western Blot (WB) testing. The walk-away system consists of a (a) TrinBlot™ Processor, (b) TrinBlot™ Scanner and (c) patented interpretive software to produce objective, reliable test results with increased speed and accuracy. The integrated system automates a labour intensive procedure, also giving increased throughput and cost savings to the laboratory.
The processor unit is flexible and adaptable to multiple assays. Both IgG and IgM assays can be run simultaneously. The processor is designed for high throughput (maximum capacity is 50 strips). The unit is fully automated once WB strips and patient sample addition to the disposable black 50 well reaction tray. The unit is designed for ease of use (colour coding reagents), accurate & waste free processing (precision stepper motors) with the elimination of carry-over (separate reagent lines).
Convenience
The integrated system (TrinBlot™ Processor & Scanner) comes pre-loaded with application interpretive criteria and eliminates the need to handle strips during transfer, the strips go from Processor to Scanner to Software in the same tray.
The Scanner is designed for fully automate or manually assist band identification for faster scanning and data reduction. Laboratories get increased standardisation with software assisted band recognition and unrivaled band detection and interpretation. The software imports patient workload data and exports results to LIS. The programme stores all image and result data for future use or review.
In the scanner the WB strips are digitalised straight from the disposable tray wells (no handling of single strips required) using innovative 3D scan technology. The digitalisation of strips takes no more than 30 seconds, then the image is directly transferred, analysed and archived in the TrinBlot™ Software.
This software gives efficient image recognition and unrivaled WB band detection and interpretation. It automatically clips the individual strips from the dark background of the transferred image and detects the bands with high sensitivity. For interpretation, test strips are compared against a reference strip image (provided by Trinity Biotech). The reference strip is unique to the kit of strips processed. Precise linking of the detected bands to the reference strip allows for rapid automated assisted band detection and interpretation of the test strip.
